Almost five years now since we launched the Detailed SEO Extension and somehow last month was a record for new users.

~23,500 installs.

Really mind-blowing to me, and I'm just super appreciative of everyone sharing and using it.

New features rolling out in the next ~2 weeks 🙏
I've been waiting for this.

The Financial Times just released their 2025 ranking of the fastest growing companies (with exact revenue numbers).

I went through all 1,000 and picked the 50 most interesting (SaaS, eCom & apps).

SEO SaaS platform Semrush just announced their Q4, 2024 results.

I had to check: They spent ~$4.8M on acquisitions in the quarter*.

Some big news was that William Wagner will be taking over as CEO.

Financial highlights:

- Revenue of $102.6M (up 23% YoY) 💰
- ARR of $411.6M (up 22% YoY) 📈

Ziff Davis CEO Vivek Shah just made some interesting comments regarding AI and SEO that I've included below.

The company behind SEO platform Moz and countless content brands you'll be familiar with reported Q4 revenue of $412.8M (up 5.9% YoY).

Full year 2024 revenue increased 2.8% to $1.4Bn.

Finance content goliath Nerdwallet just posted Q4 revenues of $183.8 million, up 37% year over year...and made some pretty interesting SEO comments.

Revenue has grown despite average monthly traffic being down 20% to 19 million visitors.

CEO Tim Chen made some interesting comments

It's finally here: A new (free) SEO research tool tracking Digital Goliaths in Google.

I'm embarrassed how much time I spent on what is essentially a side project, but it hopefully gives a new perspective to what's happening in search.

I've been thinking about this startup angle a lot recently.

Companies are using AI's intelligence and 24/7 availability to improve [insert skill] via repetition.

Of course, funding ≠ successful business, but a trend is forming, and I think this is just the beginning.
February 17, 2025 at 1:39 PM
There are now 612 startups in the Gaps database we have revenue and / or funding details for.

Always interesting to see which are trending (at least according to third-party estimates).

Ever wondered how much money the company behind RankMath made last year?

I've finished four weeks of research into the latest startup revenues and trending business ideas.

No ads. No aff links. Just 38 updates from the past month.

Any shares are much appreciated.

Today Similarweb released a list of the 100 fastest-growing companies online for 2024.

Like last year, I've went through every single one to find the most interesting.

Not businesses I would build myself but Prose (3) and Boarderie (5) were the most memorable IMO. Super cool.

Today I'm sharing something I've wanted to build for a long time: A list of public companies and how well they're performing in Google.

Companies like NerdWallet regularly update investors on how SEO is impacting them.

Now I've (hopefully) made it easier to track — 100% free.

Aleyda probably does more for encouraging other SEOs and sharing their work than anyone else in the SEO space. This is smart.

P.S. @aleyda.bsky.social I think this could work really well as a 'new tab' extension as well.

Whenever I'm researching a new niche to enter, I've found this simple search query to be a goldmine countless times.

[niche] intitle:"media kit"

I said it was simple 😉. From this you can get:

- Accurate traffic numbers of competitors 📈
- Social platforms they're growing fastest on 📱

This is wild.

3 years: €1
7 months later: €1M ARR
7 months later: €10M ARR

An app that connects with you five strangers to go out for dinner with.

The reviews I've seen on Reddit are overwhelmingly positive. Has anyone tried it?

Humble (re)beginnings.

So many cool (to me) content angles I'm working on at the moment. First one will be wrapped up in ~2 weeks.

These numbers are without sending emails / posting on social, which I'm hoping to grow the most.

Going to make sure I enjoy this journey on this one :)

Black & White Zebra is one of the most interesting media brands I track. 🦓

They generate 8-figures/yr* and have sent millions of leads to brands like Monday .com, ClickUp and SmartSheet.

They haven't been immune to Google updates but had some brands hit record numbers in 2024 as well.

I checked 10,000 hand-picked "best [product]" terms to see which sites are seeing the most ranking fluctuations.

While the November Core update has not finished rolling out, Reddit is a clear winner so far, with Forbes taking quite a hit.

I hope you find this interesting! 🤝
