Apparently, I now have to verify my age in order to read direct messages (or access 'adult content' - though TBH, I didn't realise there was any on Bluesky).

Therefore, please don't DM me.
Yes, it's about time I started 'tweeting' RISCOSitory posts again - but (for now) I'll do so from this account, rather than setting up a separate one.

Colin Hoad will be the guest speaker at ROUGOL on 16th February, covering his retro Youtube channel, and will be bringing along some handheld computers for people to play with.

I'd guess you're referring to either the Hardknott Pass or Wrynose Pass? Neither are closed for half the year, though - only if conditions are bad (neither would be safe if icy) - so if not them, there could be another I need to enjoy.

Yeah, I do not want a 500 - but if was a product, I'd definitely buy one. 🙂
Good thing this isn't for sale because I don't need one but I doubt I could have resisted...

Probably a topic for discussion at the next meeting, to work out when etc (the website is very basic so doesn't reveal any history). I imagine it predates the first SW Show, which. OTTOMH, was '98?

(Note: I might be too busy to join that meeting. OTOH, I might join it BECAUSE I'm too busy!)

I didn't buy the new TV from them - though I did include them in my various searches, so I fully expect them to try pushing TVs at me RSN. 🤷‍♂️

Although, this has been a thing with Amazon for a long time before we started branding anything involving a conditional branch as 'AI' 😁
January 31, 2026 at 6:55 PM
Yes, Amazon. That's why I ordered some (two pairs of both) - from you, in fact - yesterday. 🙄

I put it off for a while, but when I went ahead it turned out to be a portion of solid urine. It's all done...

Except that without paying attention I've positioned the bracket over where some of the connections are accessed.

I can't connect My PS3 to it unless I take it down and do it again. 🙄
New TV has arrived. Now the fun job of setting it up has to be undertaken. 😐

I mean the *physical* set up - mounting it on my stand. Strictly speaking, even the old 55" one was supposed to be a two person job that I handled alone, and this one is slightly bigger still at 58".

When people record 'top down' videos over their kit, and have their hands waving around over it 'expressively' while they waffle on, I just think it looks stupid. IMO the only time their hands are relevant are when said hands are performing an action they're talking about, or pointing at something.

This is now behaving again.

I think it might have just been too cold for it. (Being mainly sat at my desk when in the living room, because there's no point sitting in front of the broken TV, I haven't put on the radiator, and have instead just made use of the heater under my desk.)
A couple of nights ago the (mini) synthesizer (Roland JD Xi) suddenly stopped holding on to the currently selected patch (in the digital parts) and reverting to something useless.

(Analogue seems okay so far)

I like the JD Xi. Its small size makes it handy for playing with ideas.

Haha.

I suspect Matthew read this: www.riscository.com/2026/develop... - which refers to the previous meeting, in which that message came up as part of the discussion resulting from the method he described in his talk at London.

I did note Nemo's message, but deliberately chose not to specify it.

And as of last night (while watching the excellent film Apostle - albeit at my desk, on a computer screen; would've been better on my TV) the headphones started dropping out.

Looks like it's the lead, where it reaches the jack.

At least the headphones were cheap compared to the other three. 🤷‍♂️

Based on this year so far, I think I might have to officially name 2026 'The Year of the B0rkening'.

(I broke my camera on 25/12/2025, but I can't go back and replace it last year, so I'm counting it as '26.)

So far:

* Camera
* TV

Since those:

* One of my synthesizers
* My headphones
