Yes a shutdown would have consequences.

And a Republican President, Republican House, and Republican Senate would be responsible.

They have acted in a unilateral and unprecedented way.

Democrats cannot cave. They must fight back.

We can speculate all day about the potential perils of shutting down the government vs. give Trump/Elon a blank check CR to decimate it all, including our social security and Medicaid.

It's a simpler choice.

We can either go down fighting on our feet or compliant on our knees.

I want the fight.

Tariffs on, tariffs off.
Tariffs on, tariffs off.

Is this some sort of Karate Kid cosplay?
Or just incompetence?

Please read this book.
It provides insight into the fundamental evangelical attitudes that are attempting to take over our country and dictate all our lives.
The "quiverfull" movement aimed at hijacking our politics and government.
People like Josh Duggar.
This is what is coming.
We must stop it.

⚠️ DOGE staffer Edward Coristine was fired for leaking info from a data-security firm. He later bragged he retained access to the firm’s system.

He was also on law enforcement radar for communicating in an online chat room with an alleged hacker under investigation.

Coristine often went by the pseudonyms “Rivage” and “JoeyCrafter.”

He was part of a couple of Telegram groups associated with Kiwi Farms, an online forum where suicide trolling campaigns (intense harassment campaigns meant to drive the target to suicide) and deadly swatting efforts are organized.

🚨 Coristine was involved with “The Com” (likely where he came to law enforcement attention, as reported by Bloomberg upthread):

Under Biden, eggs at QFC were $3.49 a dozen.
Under Trump, they're $7.99!

Under Biden, two dozen eggs at Costco were $5.46.
Under Trump, I CAN'T EVEN BUY THEM!

This is why we are where we are right now. People get their "news" from internet sources that purposefully lie and distort the truth and they're too ignorant to actually verify what is told to them.

Needed some joy today so I went back to the Exquisite Creatures exhibit (by Christopher Marley) at OMSI. 💙 Not sure how I missed the decorator crabs last time. "Have *you* gone to see it yet?" asks the toucan.

Who knew we'd ever talk about Nixon having more integrity, more respect for the United States, and a less fragile ego than a president about to be sworn into office.

This is his 2nd inauguration when flags were rightfully kept at half staff to honor the passing of President Truman.

I finished Bewilderment (Richard Powers) last night and I'm reeling from a loss in faith in humanity. I should have read The Book of Hope with Jane Goodall *after* it and not before it. Ugh. 😞 Anyway. Figured it's time to indulge in a children's series I've never read before. 📚

Here is a picture of Nixon’s inauguration where the flags were at half staff because of Truman dying.

Though you have to admit, both times we’ve sworn in known crooks, a former president found a way to die to force them to swear in this way🤣
