Some brown roll-rim mushrooms (Paxillus involutus) with tell tale dented cap amongst other identifiers. Best not to eat them - previously thought to be edible but in fact poisonous. A heat stable antigen in the mushroom triggers the immune system to attack red blood cells (autoimmune haemolysis).

Some brown roll-rim mushrooms (Paxillus involutus) with tell tale dented cap amongst other identifiers. Best not to eat them - previously thought to be edible but in fact poisonous. A heat stable antigen in the mushroom triggers the immune system to attack red blood cells (autoimmune haemolysis).
Goat moth larva. This one is 4 or 5 years old having left its broadleaf tree burrow and was trundling around on the ground finding an underground spot to pupate in a soil cocoon. It will emerge next summer as the adult moth (Cossus cossus).
