Well, maybe the weather isn't sunny, the attitudes and community sure as heck are! Cabot Ride the Ridges is an amazing fundraiser bike ride for the Cabot Mentoring Program. It's 100% run by volunteers and there's no ambiguity about where the finds go, all the proceeds from this event go to this amazing program. Each year the Vermont Bicycle Club and Vermont Bicycle Shop crews participate in some form or another.

It's that time again! Tomorrow, Saturday August 2nd. Our monthly Pizza Ride is back to normal now that the Summer events season has slowed down and everyone is back in town. Gather at Vermont Bicycle Shop between 3:30 and 3:50.Wheels roll as close to 4:00pm as possible (sometimes we're helping last minute customers). The Pizza Ride is a family friendly 30 minute bike ride twisting through the back streets of Barre along the Stevens Branch (and probably some streets you’ve never even been on).

We're super excited to announce the first and second place winners of our VMBA Trail Challenge. With every challenge comes the need to solve problems. First place winner Kelsey Laperle poured over maps, made phone calls, showed up in communities and used her own lifelong experience and knowledge to get her across the last mile before everyone else. She made a plan, she piled into cars with her friends and family, and coerced them to travel all over the state of Vermont to succeed.

Due to incoming rain and the now issues flash flood warning for Websterville, we've cancelled the Millstone ride tonight. Stay safe and see you all next week!

Well they won't, because like Dog Bites Man, the ride is cancelled way too soon 😦Here's the thing, right as we plan to ride there are thunderstorms expected in the area, and we're not remotely interested in creating more work for the trail crew at Millstone, or to put folks at risk. We've had a good run of weather the past few weeks.

Hi friends! I wanted to send a quick note about the Pizza Ride this Saturday (and share this TV show spoof I made for Kris)!The Barre Pride poster is incorrect about where the ride meet up is. Riders meet at 12:00 noon at the Pride Rides/Vermont Bicycle Shop tents at the Barre Pride Festival (not at the shop). Bike decorating will happen from noon until around 1:00pm.

For Barre Pride our June Pizza Ride becomes a Pride Rides event!! Saturday, June 7! We'll gather at 12:00pm at the Pride Rides/Vermont Bicycle Shop tent at the Pride festival in downtown Barre for a bike decorating party. Wheels roll at 1:00pm for a super casual ride twisting through the back streets of Barre along the Stevens Branch (and probably some streets you’ve never even been on).

We have worked tirelessly for the past 10 years to have Seven Days report on the positive bicycle things happening in Barre. We have had very little luck. Although Vermont Bicycle Shop has been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally for their customer service and expertise, for the first time Vermont Bicycle Shop and a few other great Barre businesses (like Slowpoke Exchange!) are on the ballot.

Join the Rolling Resistance leader Barb for a super fun field trip to the Presidential Rail Trail in New Hampshire! It will be a flat, packed gravel and dirt surface 11 miles out and 11 miles back friend paced bicycle ride. Folks can meet at Vermont Bicycle Shop (42 Summer St. Barre, VT) at a little before 9:00 AM to group up.

This week's Thursday night MTB ride is rained out! Look for a post for riding mountain bikes with us next week! When I sat down to make our first MTB post of the season I had already had the idea to do a Blossom theme for one of the posts this season. In a world of forgettable and malignant laugh-track TV shows Blossom tackled some real topics well ahead of the times.

The cold tease of the bright sun is an almost cruel pretense an early bicycle season. The first Pizza Ride was rained out, we still had a super fun Pizza Party here at the shop followed by a great UVM Public Philosophy Week talk all about bicycles! We are probably still a couple weeks away from our first group rides of the season.

Friends! The weather is looking pretty spotty for our first pizza ride. So we will most likely turn our pizza ride into a pizza party. We've ordered a couple cheese and a couple of pepperoni pizzas from Foxy's Barre! Pizzas arrive at the shop a little after 3:45, then at 4:30 hang out for the Public Philosophy Week's The Philosophy of Bicycling with host Clare LaFrance and guest Darren Ohl (owner, Vermont Bicycle Shop). After that some of us will be heading over to the Aldrich Public Library Fundraiser!We hope to see you at all three!

The Trek Ride Club is here and we're pretty excited about it. We've published a bunch of our routes, we'll be publishing our group rides, and other fun challenges and events through the app and via the normal VermontBicycleClub.com channels. You'll be able to see routes for a lot of our group rides and you can win prizes from both Trek Bicycles and Vermont Bicycle Shop and some other partners.
