Man, I love Deb Sokolow's work. These pieces are almost like seeing a play or reading a novel (Thinking Drawing #4, 2023). westernexhibitions.com/exhibition/d...

Browsing through the images from Manet/Degas at the Met. Looks fantastic, even though my favorite Manet from AIC did not make the trip. (Woman Reading, 1879/80). www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/...

The Poetry Foundation and Gray produced a couple of great Alex Katz exhibitions this summer in Chicago. Here's two minutes on his collaboration with poets. A longer conversation is on the Gray site www.richardgraygallery.com/video/in-dia... Wonderful stuff.

Books and language are a recurring motif in Tetsuya Ishida's art, which I discovered at Wrightwood 659 in 2019. The catalog for the current show at Gagosian in New York includes a story by Kobo Abe. This work (Untitled, 2004) was painted the year before he died.

I love Ben Davis's podcast and this episode is particularly fine. I found it more accessible than the Artforum piece it references.
The Art Angle Podcast: Hal Foster on the Age of Art Theory | Artnet News
Forty years after the seminal text 'The Anti-Aesthetic' was published, Hal Foster speaks to Artnet's chief critic Ben Davis.
