In Vedic astrology, “12 houses”refer to the 12 distinct areas of life represented on a birth chart, "9 planets" represent the nine celestial bodies (including the Sun and Moon), and "12 rashis" refer to the 12 zodiac signs, which are also divided into the 12 houses on a birth chart !

In vedic astrology, The names of the nine
planets respectively are : the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury,
Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu (the
ascending and the descending nodes of the Moon). Among these, Sun, Saturn, Mars, decreasing Moon, Rahu and Ketu are malefics while the rest are benefics.
