Why aren't Dems hammering the GOP for not challenging Trump's attempt to break up NATO? If the situation were reversed the GOP would tar every Democrat w/ their President's actions esp in a midterm year.

Dementia's not a light switch, it's a spectrum. Watching multiple family members trip up over dementia is not pleasant. Teetotalers turned drunkards in their 7th decade w/ stark cries for attention.

Donald Trump is sun-downing.

We need to stop him before he does something disastrous.

A very scary story. What if a fraudster did contribute to either of their campaigns? Trump will aggrandize a normal campaign contribution into a conspiracy. This is how fascism begins.

What's happening in Venezuela? Today it seems as if the questions are all last week's news, forced off the front page by Trump's dementia.

It would be hard to put a price tag on the lost credibility the US would suffer if Trump (or we, the US citizens) bully NATO nations into compliance w/ Greenland demands. Trump has already shredded the credibility it has taken the US three generations since WWII to accumulate.
January 20, 2026 at 5:23 PM
We should consider any invocation of the insurrection act or invasion of Greenland as a clarion call for opposition action. If at that point Congress refuses to impeach Trump, and the Senate won't convict him, it's time to take to the streets.

Is it possible to not be disappointed in all three branches of US government? Crazy President, quisling GOP, spineless opposition, religiously inculcated SCOTUS. Add castrated MSM and stock option greedy CEOs and it's America in 2025. Now It's now either revolution or dictatorship. You choose.
January 20, 2026 at 3:08 AM
Russia has the most to gain and the least to lose in the Greenland kerfuffle. The possibility of Trump acting in concert with Putin must be considered.
January 19, 2026 at 7:20 PM
WTF is wrong w/ our opposition party? Their political assault on those allowing an authoritarian takeover of the US should be starting right now. Yet the DNCC is impotent and confused, all whistling 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' as they skip toward the midterms.
January 19, 2026 at 5:18 PM
I'm awaiting the SCOTUS ruling on the 'emergency' allowing Trump to impose tariffs. Any sixth grader could tell you there was no economic emergency facing the US when Trump imposed the order. But the 6 conservative justices weren't picked for their intelligence, they were picked for their biases.
January 19, 2026 at 4:34 PM
W/o Evangelicals and conservative Catholics, Trump had no chance of being elected in either 2016 or 2024. They're societal dropouts, as they have no interest in a more economically fair and just US. Instead of suggesting less superstition and more education, we encourage ignorance w/ tax breaks.
January 19, 2026 at 4:27 PM
In the face of incipient oppressive authoritarianism, why do we feel so impotent, so lacking in fight? Partially, I think because MSM has been gelded by their prosperous owners. Mostly, I think, we've forgotten the prosperous are our enemies, not our 'job generating' friends.

How ironic that the political party who traditionally supported state over federal, is now pissing on state's rights, or even feeling obligated to assist any state. Have Trumpers accepted this, or has the conservative media just convinced them it's now OK?
January 16, 2026 at 3:00 AM
The reality is many current SCOTUS decisions have muddied the judicial waters instead of clarifying them, e.g. Citizens United, abortion under state control, gerrymandering. When we pick inculcated and biased judges, we get chaos.
The Supreme Court is about to confront its most embarrassing decision
The Court must deal with the chaos it created around guns.

Do you think Trump, like other solipsistic authoritarians, thinks the 30% hard core followers is enough? That governmental and military control + 30% of the population is enough to maintain power? It's exactly what he thinks. He also thinks the rest of the population is too weak to resist.

The salient point in the administration's response to ICE murder of a citizen is their refusal to admit the truth in spite of the footage of the incident we can all see on video. Just now, Vance said the media was irresponsible in the characterization. "No more scalps" is indeed their catchphrase.
January 8, 2026 at 7:11 PM
We're descending into governmental chaos, which we richly deserve. The rich keep getting tax breaks, the income gap continues to widen, inculcated Catholics make tendentious SCOTUS rulings, ICE agents strut our streets with no restraint.

The lack of outrage over the invasion of Venezuela is testament to how complete the takeover of US MSM by plutocrats has been.

Trump thinks trampling on impotent Venezuela, arresting Maduro and wife makes him presidential, full of US power. I'll be interested in the polls. Do Evangelicals still agree w/ him? Does rural MAGA think stealing a poor country's wealth is a legitimate exercise of US might?

Due to the kerfuffle walking back NYC’s adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, I found their definition and, among others, this example: "Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations."

So the US attacks another country, but the residents who paid for the attack aren't allowed to hear the details because the information is 'classified?' The Venezuelans know- they suffered the attack. Evidently no one but me understands this is not only wrong, but also dangerous.

Is Trump trying to say we only support Judaism and Christianity? Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, agnostics and others are not under the US umbrella? Sad, silly country.

Bari Weiss. Everything odious about today's media landscape. A US Jew who thinks Israel is her true home. A conservative who made her fame bones by talking MAGA, before it was cool. Did no one see her censorious, emotional nature before she pissed on American MSM?
