In medieval folklore, hedgehogs were said to lie on their backs so they could impale fruits on their spine. They then carried the fruit to their dens to feed the young.

The Menai Bridge opened on 30 January 1826. It was the largest suspension bridge so far built; its engineer Thomas Telford considered it his greatest single engineering feat.

Thomas James Stretch was a student at St David’s College, following his ordination he became curate at Holy Trinity Church, Aberystwyth. He undertook wartime service with the Royal Army Chaplain’s Department, attached to the Army’s 11th Armoured Division.
