A new study led by OI member 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗿, in collaboration with colleagues at DBCA and UWA, has revealed that a marine heatwave caused extensive habitat fragmentation in one of the world’s largest and most important seagrass ecosystems.

Two of the four whales spotted at a Perth beach last week have been seen off the SW coast as they migrate to cooler waters.

OI researcher 𝗗𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀 describes how the mother and calf communicate quietly with each other to avoid detection by nearby orcas.
