Total enrollment is up across all three University of Washington campuses for the 2025-26 academic year, according to the annual census count released this month.
Of the 64,000 students across those campuses, nearly three-fourths are Washington state residents.

UW alum Mary Brunkow, ’83, won the Nobel Prize in Medicine this morning.
This photo was taken while she was on the phone with the Nobel Committee in Sweden. Mary said she initially missed the call because a strange number popped up on her phone — she thought it might be spam.

Each year, more than 1 billion pounds of coffee grounds are tossed into landfills & compost bins. A UW doctoral student has brewed up a way to make an alternative to plastics with those used coffee grounds.
