New one for @meidastouch.com: the plumbing of the financial system sprung a leak at the end of October and has only gotten worse. The Fed has lost control of rates. Treasury is sucking liquidity out of the market. Credit markets are seizing up. Repo keeps blowing out.
The Fed injected $50B into overnight lending in one day—$20B morning, $30B afternoon. Banks are bypassing normal channels because rates are too high or money isn't there. Observers say the Fed lost control and we might be heading for a liquidity crisis.
