Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

Today, Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.6 with a #Finance plugin. I tested it on capitalizing VW's R&D expenses. In one vague prompt I got a full spreadsheet with amortization schedules and ROIC calculations.

📦 I've released an *alpha* version of wrds, an R package that simplifies access to Wharton Research Data Services.

This is an alpha release. I'd appreciate feedback on the API design, missing features, or bugs. Open an issue on GitHub or comment here.

I looked at the social science–relevant Claude Code skills in this library. They didn’t convince me, and the sample “papers” on the website were even less compelling.

But I’m happy to hear success stories and be proven otherwise.

Tired of littering your R code with `na.rm = TRUE`?

I put together 📦 tidyna 📦: it masks common R functions so they handle missing values by default. It also catches base R edge cases, like `sum(c(NA, NA), na.rm = TRUE)` returns 0.

Feedback welcome!

I drew an "almost perfect circle" with this #Anthropic Artifact example. Nothing important, #AI just made me laugh.

Remember when Amazon held a sale during Independent Bookstore Day in an effort to undercut indie bookstores?

We didn’t forget. Support local bookstores during Small Business Saturday and beyond.

Yes, yes, the rumors are true — we are OFFICIALLY launching here on Bluesky!

In case you forgot, we’re a place to buy books online where every purchase supports local bookstores, not billionaires.

Thanks for being here 🙌🏽
