Difficult to believe that it's been 20 years since Paul Hester died. Watching the tremendous new film "Hessie" by Peter Green and Mark Goulding. Makes you realise what an enormous talent was lost.

It does feel slightly odd to have to scrape ice off the car in the morning, but take hayfever tablets and spray to stop from sneezing all day!

Reports of snow turn out to yet again be false. It's odd as a Brit, because we are absolutely obsessed with the weather. Yet we hardly ever get what could be considered extreme weather, and the country still grinds to a halt regardless. Come wind, come rain, come snow, come hazy sunshine!

First business trip of the year to Turkey on Monday. It is their Winter too but predictably after months of no rain, I'm bringing some with me from the UK.

Slowly settling into 2025, and remembering to put the right year when writing the date. Not doing Dry January this year, I mean I could and have before but seriously this month is long and tough enough!

Happy new year to all. January 6th being the reality check of how bleak winter would be without Christmas and New Year to intervene!

Ah it's the first day of "what they actually is it" mas. When you start to question whether you can have cheese for breakfast and Baileys at 11am (and most likely answer yes to both questions!).

Just caught up with the latest Wallace and Grommet film after missing it on Christmas Day. My goodness they are just so densely packed with gags and things going on in the background. Absolute genius.

Happy Christmas. Santa has been, living room looks like a present bomb has exploded, house full of festive cheer and everybody is looking forward to a day with family. So pretty much perfect.

A weekend of all things festive at Butlins. Great shows, plenty of fairground ride action and Christmas spirit aplenty.

Working for the week in London, I feel like a proper commuter. I love visiting the capital as it always feels so vibrant and full of life. But I think it would break me eventually if I lived here....so many people, so little space!

A day of doing nothing apart from laying on the sofa watching Christmas films, eating food, listening to the rain and wind lashing the windows. Not productive at all, but definitely giving the batteries a much needed recharge.

Another stormy weekend in the UK, proper blowing a gale. A day not to go out. The Christmas tree is up, so time to bask in the glow from the lights.

1st December and it feels like Christmas can officially begin. The slow transformation from grudging Grinch to pass me buffet food for breakfast has begun!

It would be nice to have the equivalent of Thanksgiving in the UK. We are so public holiday light in the second half of each year.

Ah who would be a Southampton fan? In the end it's the hope that kills you!

Storm Bert has arrived in the UK. Everybody is thinking about the Bert out of Sesame Street right? Would be cool if they continued the rest of the storm naming this year after Muppet characters!

I always love the slight air of frenzy and panic that happens in the UK at what in any other country would be considered benign and every day weather. Snow plough for sleat anybody?

Watched Paddington In Peru this evening. It definitely had its fun and some touching moments, but there was a vague Indiana Jones with a cute bear vibe to the second half of it. Which to me was a bit jarring.

Nothing better than starting your week sat at a garage, waiting for your car to charge. At home car charger failure klaxon! Still there's coffee here, the Adam Buxton podcast is on, so I am grateful for small mercies.

Nothing like a planned tip run on a Saturday morning to raise your spirits. I will kind of miss stumbling past the mattress that's been on the landing for the last month or so, but it's time to let go!

I'm not sure this place is awash with UK users just yet. But one of my favourite, ah what the heck, my favourite band is on BBC Radio Scotland tonight at 8pm.

Tune in for the mighty Squeeze, Deptford's finest on their 50th anniversary tour.

Feels like a lot of pressure on the first post here, like the opening paragraph of a novel! Maybe it'll be my one and only post, but let's see. First impressions are good, it's nice to see pleasant interactions between strangers again. Long may it stay that way.
