We're taking a break from ugly Icelandic and venturing into old American. Among my grandfather's slide collection, there are a few from the States. According to my grandmother, these were likely given to my grandfather by someone he worked with at the Naval Air Station.

Apparently, they used to grow vegetables here. Being close to the sea, they also fished and collected dulse, which they dried and fed to the cows.

Some say this boat has been here since 1966, but according to Minjastofnun, it's far more recent. They claim it drifted there around 1998. Either way, there's not much left.

This was built in 1950, originally intended to be a dairy farm. No cow ever saw the inside of that barn because, apparently, they ran out of money.

This is one of the pits the British blasted out of the hillside. The rocks excavated were used to construct runways at the nearby airbase, while the pits were used to hide fuel tanks.
