What would this mean for roles such as PRISMs, RSEs and Technical Staff? Not being employed by the university would make them unable to apply for funding from UKRI. They would have to be costed differently on grants. Not a good look for research culture and REF 2029.

Outsourcing is not the answer and Professional Services staff should not be treated differently to Academic Staff in a university.
