h/t to #Wikipedia for this: exactly 100 years ago today the world (or at least @nytimes.com readers) learned of Edwin Hubble's analysis showing that #M31 #AndromedaNebula was actually a whole separate galaxy from our #MilkyWay. Could you tell just by looking at it? apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap24090...

Good view this evening through the clouds of the Waning Gibbous #Moon and #Jupiter not too too far apart. Jupiter is up and to the right from the Moon. If the clouds allow it, Orion can be seen dramatically rising in the east soon too. #UCFinSpace #UCFontheMoon

Most distant object known to humanity.
Found by JWST, JADES-GS-z14-0 is the most distant galaxy ever discovered. It's located 13.6 billion light years from us, and since it takes time for light to travel, we see it as it was only 290 million years after the Big Bang.
