I've decided to stop submitting the CNF story about my mom. Being a reader for @hippocampusmag.bsky.social I've read WAY to many similar "my parents were assholes" stories lately. There's good stuff out there but when you read 4 or 5 in a row, it gets old.

One of my stories has racked up 70 submissions/50 rejections. I'm taking the hint & have buried it on the laptop to let it sit for a few months. It sucks because I liked it, but it needs an overhaul/rewrite. I've still got plenty of stuff to work on.

Cats today are TOTALLY acting like 2 year old children. (Ok they ARE 2 year old children dressed as cats).
One is howling like the world is ending because she wants to play fetch NOWNOWNOWNOW. The other just horked and pooped on the bed. Ah the joys of being owned by four legged creatures.

So much information, so much material to process & I've met so many people. Overall having a great time. Barely keeping up with the news, which is really kinda nice. I miss my husband & the Feline Overlords. 1 more day of workshops, I fly back Friday.

jet lag has caught up to me. really dragging right now. going to a friend's house in the burbs later for lunch. conference starts tomorrow. got up at 6, hiked down to the lobby (LOTS of walking) for coffee. nap time.

There's a reason I usually avoid brand new lit mags to submit to. I submitted to three in the past couple of months. Either they are in over their heads &/or I'm being ghosted (after reaching out to inquire about my submission) or who knows what.

So this conference in Vegas that I'm going to is the Author's Nation writing conference. Going to a conference has been on my bucket list for a while, I'm stupid excited about this. Workshops, meet & greets, networking. I leave Saturday, return next Friday.
