Sadly, no, but they *do* have a restaurant where you can while away the hours devouring books

The massive omelettes at Beth's Cafe were inspiration for the Boxcar at Dottie's Diner. Few can summit that mountain of eggs. Huzzah, well-dressed sir!

I'm a little over halfway through Assassin's Quest, the third book in The Farseer Trilogy. It was slow in the beginning and it was more work to get through than I'd anticipate. Now, however, things are tightening up and I'm excited when I pick the book up! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

Bad cold, day 3.

Feeling very congested. Lots of coughing, snortling, many, many Kleenex have given their all for me. Wah.

Many thanks! it's been good so far, though someone decided to get me sick (just a bad cold) so there's that. 2026 can only get better from here*!

Happy New Year to You, too!

*right?

At Elliot Bay Book Company talking to nice woman looking up my book at the Info desk. A young couple said, "We're sorry, we couldn't help overhearing. Are you an author?" Oh, my stars, my heart leapt! I kept my cool, "Why, yes I am." They seemed SO pleased and chatted with me about the book. Wow!

I'm writing a five-minute spoken-word piece for a party I'm going to where everyone must perform. I *think* it's good, but won't know until I flop or fly in front of 20 of my closest friends.

It's extremely silly, I know, but I am ridiculously excited about this.

Happy day! Did you talk to the folks who work there? I bet they were just as excited as you were!

Though most of us are familiar with the "double-u", that is to say, "W", the "triple-V" was removed from the latinate alphabet by Pontius Pilates because it was too cute.

Hey, wow, it's here!

Went into Leavenworth, WA after the wild storm last week. They are open for business and will be happy to see you, maybe even as happy as I was to see my book at A Book For All Seasons! :)

I could never claim to be a journalist, but the writing I've done for newspapers has been hugely influential on me. Not only for style, etc., but because of the people I met working in those spaces. Heroes.

Geeky aside: I was once charged with moving an authentication database from ASCII to UTF-8. I did so, and I informed the grumpy customer who'd opened the ticket they were now free to log in as: (โ•ฏยฐโ–กยฐ)โ•ฏ๏ธต โ”ปโ”โ”ป

They loved me ever after. :)

I can't wait until I can merge my brain with an AI. I'll probably opt for the ad-supported version, because then I'm not locked in.

Congrats! That feeling you get when someone likes your work enough to buy it is fantastic, isn't it? :)
