Three federal courts have temporarily blocked the Trump admin from enforcing the legally dubious “Dear Colleague” letter FCPS declined to sign. Our policies aren’t set by letters or executive fiat. We’ll remain in compliance with the law & keep doing right by all of our students, staff, & families.

Anyone who took a high school history class knows broad tariffs like these Trump Tariffs are a recipe for disaster, hitting working families the hardest. They’ll cost the average Kentuckian at least $1,200 in higher groceries, gas, housing, and more. It’s nonsensical.

Not only is Linda McMahon wholly unqualified, she’s woefully out of touch to address the needs of students and teachers. Case in point: her net worth is 72,000 times greater the average starting teacher salary.

Given the choice between a feeding frenzy for billionaires and keeping children fed in schools, a majority of the House sided with the billionaires tonight. A shameful vote. We won’t stop fighting for the people who have the most to lose by these disastrous proposals.

Key word is “legitimate.” The Constitution limits the power of government, including the President’s, to protect the people. The role of the Courts is to evaluate actions of other branches through this lens. Stop by one of my high school Gov classes & my students would be happy to explain it to you.

My mom and dad and millions of middle class folks like them didn’t spend their adult lives working hard, paying their share, and playing by the rules only for a billionaire to get his hands on their Social Security check.

Trump's promise to dismantle the Education Department will likely be more costly for red states than blue.

Trump states, on average, use more federal funding in their education apportions than states that voted for Vice President Harris. www.axios.com/2025/02/05/t...
Trump-voting states have more to lose if Education Department dismantled
States that voted for Trump receive more federal education funds than those that voted for Harris.

Public schools don’t need a billionaire telling us what’s best for our students. Kentuckians already rejected that. Anyone truly concerned about local control would support fully funding the programs that empower local districts to support kids, close opportunity gaps, and strengthen communities.

They say the presidency reveals who you are. Jimmy Carter, who was devoted to service and lifting the most vulnerable, sought to reveal who we ought to be as a country. More lives are better today around the world because of the life of Jimmy Carter. 1/2

This historic vote has been decades in the making and our educators, first responders, and other public servants will now get the Social Security benefits they have earned. Proud of all the work that went into making this happen and all the Kentuckians who shared their stories for us to take to DC!
