Happy New Year's Canada!

May our coming year be progressive, collective, and promising 🥳
CEO of a local MSP reached out begging for my labour last week.

I agreed on the condition I'm given the salary & job description up front.

Interview was meh.
I was told I'm over qualified for the sr. remote role. Mystery salary, no description. Invited to a second in-person interview yesterday.

Had a great night attending Red River College 60th anniversary Electrical Engineering Technology reunion.

Got to say hi to my favorite college teachers and classmates. Big thanks to Rob C. for teaching me Windows Server fundamentals!

Congrats to Tessa Potter for a most impressive career in tech! 🏆

Winnipeg setting up rules on where homeless can live is a grim reflection of policy. It's a policy decision to permit homelessness to persist.
Gillingham admits this law won't solve homelessness.

Other countries solved homelessness. Why can't any branch of gov here?

Got my COVID booster today. Asked the doc how many are doing the same. I was told people are treating the latest wave like it's a pandemic. They're completely booked for weeks for boosters.

While the data is grim. At least people are treating the pandemic for what it is.

Stay healthy out there! 😷♥️

Did you know far-right extremists are bragging about having guys on the “inside” of the Conservative Party?

Of course, they could be full of it.

But @antihate.ca has the receipts of the claim — and we play them for you on today’s episode of Bubble Pop:

Canada Post is a public service not a business.
For those unsure the difference;

A public service provides free or very cheap services.

A business extracts profits from the public for shareholders, and in exchange provides at cost that service to those who afford it.

Strikes help workers rights.

Watching from afar about 200ish people gather to celebrate Charlie Kirk at the legislature this evening.

Patrick Allard & co claiming CK never was racist, sexist, bigoted.

If you have to spend your entire vigil trying to reassure people your idol wasn't toxic. It only amplifies how toxic CK was.

In America political violence seems to be the norm, not the exception. Especially violence from the MAGA crowd.

Maybe this recent violence to someone who advocated for the same acts that ended his life will be a wake up call for his followers.

Either way this violence must stop, from the top down.

Just saw how Netherlands has essentially moved to 4 day work weeks with no reduction of pay. (avg 32.1 hrs/week)

4 day work week improves productivity, local economics, family relationships, and life work balance.
Dutch kids are also known to be one of the happiest. No surprises there considering.

Please help me fight to protect Kilcona dog park! This is a safe space made for us & our dogs to exercise and enjoy the outdoors.

I implore everyone to contact CoW Councilor Jeff Browaty (Conservative), MLA Tracy Schmidt (NDP), MP Raquel Dancho (Conservative).

Dog in the morning, head on my chest asking me not to leave bed. Big puppy eyes.

Cat at 6 am: "Food NOW, or I turn the carpet to confetti!"
Acting cutsy when I get to her food bowl.

My spouse is a cat person.
I'm a dog person.. I'm also a coffee person 🫩

Been a while for me. With everything going on in the world I'm lately at a loss for words. However today was different for personal reasons.

For anyone who knows me this isn't new.
For strangers and those who forgot (Yes, including my family members who argued furiously for several hours today).

Getting off my political soap box, onto my tech soap box.

Automation is great. But if the process is broken you'll just get broken results faster.
You sure can automate a toilet flush. If pipes are broken you'll still get in deep crap, but *faster*.

Fix your processes before you think about 'AI'.

Happy Canada Day!

May we all take a moment to appreciate what we have, what we are not.

In Canada we have the right to free healthcare, safe schools, standing for freedom of expression in all spaces.
Freedom to practice democratic elections as a country, not to be ruled as a state.

Ohh Canada! ☺

Recently I have looked at Kohlberg’s stages of moral development. I've had the idea of this concept but prior I did not have the specific framework.

Putting the general classification of people's morality into 3 main categories (there are 5/6 total phases) explains a lot about the human experience.

It's been hard to keep up with news lately. We have humanitarian aid stopped and Greta Thunberg being one of them was kidnapped, aid illegally seized by colonists.

Musk Trump relationship ended as they fire attacks at each other online. Musk, black eyed, screaming known events on his way out.

It happened. A liberal government beat the crony Cons.

While not progressive. Liberals will not sell us out to America for the bottom dollar. We can sleep at least a little bit better tonight.

I am fortunate this election to be in a workplace that, while not totally progressive, is or at least out loud is totally against conservatives. Even the more vocal regressives have no taste for maple maga.

Unity against Trump / Cons feels great!

Today is your final chance to have your say and cast your vote.
www.elections.ca/content2.asp...

Check your riding and vote for the most likely to win between NDP and Liberal.

If you love your country. Use your vote to block the Conservatives Maple MAGA agenda!

Today is the last day to advanced vote. Please make time to be counted in and have your voice heard!

We must reject the Cons and their plan to sell Canada off to the ultra wealthy & America.

The best way right now to do this is to vote based on polling data.

Need more info?

Listen. I know the Kildonan - St. Paul riding this election looks grim for the NDP. However that being said Emily Clark responded to my email asking about UBI support.

I got a strong yes from Emily for UBI!

Vote how you wish. Just know that so far only the NDP have responded with UBI support here.
April 11, 2025 at 12:50 AM
As many know an election in Canada is coming in a month.

Now is the time to make demands to MP candidates.
Tell the candidates you need UBI, greater union supports, better access to public healthcare.

You shouldn't restrict yourself as this is the time for them to earn our votes.

Demand progress!

Tesla used car salesman at the Whitehouse.

If that was in a satirical book about possible futures. Readers would complain that it's too ridiculous.

That same snake oil salesman. He's threatening Canada and the world with recession. We must not let him annex, regress, or strong arm our freedoms.

PP is on CBC claiming Mark Carney is hiding money in blind trusts.

For a guy hiding from Security Clearance. PP has a lot to say about others but is unwilling to do anything to gain voter trust with proper clearance.

I'm not a fan of Carney. However PP has nothing on the guy and is afraid of Libs.
