I had a blast interviewing John Patrick Higgins (@johnnymuggins.bsky.social) for @wirobooks.bsky.social about his wickedly funny bad-back memoir, SPINE. Got to talk about Psycho, the "girl on the rock," and whether humor is a form of mental illness.

Happy to see that @vickmickunas.bsky.social of WYSO's Book Nook loved the "brutal hilarity" of SPINE by @johnnymuggins.bsky.social as much as I did! It's just a great memoir -- every sentence is an object lesson in wit.

Dana Barnes (@dbaredit.bsky.social)'s vivid account of caring for her dying father is told with honesty, humor, and affection. Terrific long-form narrative essay -- poignant, memorable and very readable.
Early reader reactions: “Wow!” and “your style has bags of character” and “I just had whiskey, but I think this is pretty good.” Give this long-form caregiving narrative essay a read and share your story too if you’d like:

I loved this book! Cary Grant's Suit by Todd McEwen is really a kind of loopy memoir disguised as a book about movies. The subtitle tells you what you're in for: "Nine Movies That Made Me The Wreck I Am Today." I have been a fan of McEwen for decades.
'North by Northwest isn’t about what happens to Cary Grant, it’s about what happens to his suit. The suit has the adventures, a gorgeous New York suit threading its way through America.' (Cary Grant's Suit by Todd McEwen)

With no offence to Cary Grant, who was born #OTD in 1904.
