Wednesday Witchy Musings-Tea
Many have told me their grandmother used to read tea leaves. But why? It is an easily hidden form of magic. There are few images more innocuous than a woman, a granny, sitting drinking tea. Add a bit of divination and it transforms to a symbol of secret wisdom.

Deity of the Week - Odin
The Allfather, Chief of the Æsir, and god of wisdom, knowledge, and war.
Ansuz is the rune of Odin and wisdom. Draw, paint etc. Ansuz to aid you. I generally offer up mead or beer alongside meat or bread when asking for aid or as thanks!

One of the most popular Egyptian deities, although technically a (good) demon. Found on amulets, tattoos, household objects, as well as on temple reliefs he was a protector particularly of women and children.

Wednesday Witch Tips - Wood Sage/Wood Germander
Although not actually from the salvia/sage family, it is a distant relation. It generally grows well in shady spots, which is why it flourishes in its natural woodland habitat.

Deity of the Week - Ninisina
Mesopotamian goddess of Isin, healing, and dogs.
If you wish to call on her there are many surviving hymns to her. You might also want to give here a depiction of a dog, or tools of the healing arts. Ask her for protection for your dog companions!

Wednesday Witchy Musings - Touching Earth (literally)
I’ve been collecting chalk, and incidentally flint, ready for Samhain.
It is deeply satisfying connecting with the land, the soil feeling warmer than the air as I remove it from the Earth with thanks.

Deity of the Week - Janus
Roman god of beginnings and transitions; consequently god of doorways, opening and closing of conflicts, boundaries, January (named for him), also journeys and birth. Well known for his role protecting doorways, particularly the entrance to houses.

Wednesday Witch Musings - October is here!
It is a time of year for slowing down, a time we can see the signs of approaching Winter, and also a time I feel called to Autumn Cleaning. Enjoy October and all it brings. I am slowing down to focus on craft and creation as the chill takes hold!

Deity of the Week-Ing
Possibly a variant of Freyr as Yngvi-Freyr.
Ingwaz is a rune of New Life, Fertility, Creative Power, and Transformation. You can worship Ing as a separate aspect or deity. Offer up grain or ale, recite from “The Old English Rune Poem” or other Rune poetry!

Wednesday Witchy Musings - Apple Divination
There are two apple divination rituals I particularly enjoy, both related to love. There are several variations of both, particularly when/where to perform the ritual. But they are generally associated with Samhain:

Deity of the Week - Persephone
Another deity associated with the Autumn Equinox as for many this is the time she returns to the Underworld.

Deity of the Week - Mabon (and Maponos)
Most well known today as Aidan Kelly used his name in 1974 to relabel the Autumn Equinox. We have one myth for the Welsh Mabon ap Modron “Divine Son son of Divine Mother”, the tale of Culhwch and Olwen.
