We are thrilled to present Heidi Muller & Bob Webb for our November 15th concert. Folk duo Heidi Muller and Bob Webb cross the musical boundaries between original songs and traditional tunes, blending each other’s influences from the Pacific Northwest to the Appalachian Mountains. Their songs feature award-winning songwriter Heidi Muller’s crystalline vocals backed by guitars, Appalachian dulcimers, mandolin, and electric cello. They have recorded four albums together in addition to Muller’s five previous solo CDs. Described as “arguably Seattle’s most beloved folk singer/songwriter” in the 1990’s by Heritage Music Review, Muller’s career has spanned four decades in the Northwest music scene. Her song “Good Road” was the theme song of the Inland Folk show heard on Northwest Public Radio for 30 years until 2019. Two of her songs were published in “Rise Again,” the sequel to the legendary songbook, Rise Up Singing. She toured nationally, performing at venues from coffeehouses to the Kerrville Folk Festival before she moved back East, where she became a popular mountain dulcimer instructor and performer. In 2003, Muller formed a duo with Bob Webb in Charleston, West Virginia. Webb is a multi-instrumentalist who has played cello and guitar since childhood, and mandolin and mountain dulcimer for over 40 years. He has worked since the 1970’s as an accompanist in the band Stark Raven and on the road with WV artists Kate Long and Dave Haas. Stark Raven became the house band for NPR’s Mountain Stage live performance radio show, where he accompanied artists such as Odetta, Tom Paxton, Shawn Colvin, Bill Staines, Peggy Seeger, and Arlo Guthrie. Muller and Webb now live in Joseph, OR at the foot of the Wallowa Mountains. Besides performing, they maintain an active teaching schedule and record their own and others’ music at their Mountain View Recording studio. Steve and Kristi Nebel in Concert Sat. Oct. 18, 2025, 7:30 pm All Saints' Episcopal Church, Richland We are thrilled to present Steve and Kristi Nebel for our October 18 concert. Steve and Kristi Nebel (pron. knee bull) bring passion, finesse, and beauty to their audiences with their songs of social justice, knife-edge observations, stories they have picked up in their travels, and pure, simple love. They have traveled extensively, having done nine tours in UK folk clubs and festivals and toured the Midwest and east coast. They have recorded more than ten CDs, mostly of their own songs. Kristi’s solo CD, for which she was nominated “western swing female performer of the year” in 2014 is a combination of traditional western swing and Steve’s Americana songs. The Nebel’s style is informed by a wealth of experience playing their instruments and lending their voices to the other for a blend that exceeds the sum of two parts. They are known for their working portrayals of fishermen and common people in Steve’s songwriting. “Raven Speaks” is a collaboration with Native American poet Duane Niatum. It is a commentary on global climate change using “Raven” of Native American mythology as a main character in some of the songs, and certainly in Niatum’s poetry. Their most recent production, “Tandem,” is the most sparse of their recordings, and features only bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and their two voices. Steve and Kristi Nebel perform for 3RFS on Saturday, October 18, 7:30 pm, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball Ave., in Richland. Park in the back and enter through the basement. Keeler, Morse, and Webb are award winning instrumentalist and songwriter Brad Keeler, beloved Inland Northwest bluesman and songwriter “Lonesome” Lyle Morse, and award-winning songwriter Patrice Webb. These three old friends have come together to present original songs in a “Songwriter in the Round” format bringing intimacy and warmth to folk, swing and the blues. Paninis, charcuterie, and snacks, local wines, beers, hard ciders, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Thanks to a very generous donor, we were able to record this year’s Dan Maher Tribute AND the Saturday night Tumbleweed Benefit concert! Those recordings are up on our website, https://tumbleweedfest.com . The Tribute (1 hour 25 minutes) presents many of Dan’s friends and fellow performers reminiscing about their friend and colleague, and performing songs that were favorites of Dan’s. The Saturday concert (2 hours 45 minutes) presents The Geoducks, Deb Seymour, and William Pint and Felicia Dale. Also included is the traditional performance by the songwriter of the first place song from the Jane Titland Memorial Songwriting contest (based on the theme of this year’s festival, “Play Time”); this year it’s Patrice Webb (backed by Brad Keeler) and her song “Let’s Go Riding.” If you liked these videos, and would like to see us record the concert next year, you may donate to us by tapping the “Tip Jar” button on the bottom of the video window. Three Rivers Folklife Society presents Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Arielle Silver in our September concert. Equally inspired by Laurel Canyon and Greenwich Village, singer and songwriter Arielle Silver is a consummate storyteller whose songs are rich with imagery, empathy, and insight. Her latest 10-song album “Watershed” draws on watershed moments in woodsy and watery places like Venice Beach, the Florida coast, and the Appalachian trail. Renewing and reflective, her roots-y story-songs have crosscurrents that connect experiences, people, and places. Born on Florida’s Gulf Coast and raised along the mid-Atlantic seaboard, Silver now lives just a traffic jam away from the Pacific Ocean in her adopted home of Los Angeles. Memories of places and times serve as touchstones through her songs, as do the troubadour music traditions of folk, country, and rock that she grew up singing with her guitar-strumming architect dad. An ethic of care runs through her music, each song ushering listeners to tune into their own relationship with both people and the more-than-human world. Arielle will perform at 7:00pm on Saturday, September 27th, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball Ave, Richland, WA 99354. The Three Rivers Folklife Society logo is presented with a superimposed mourning stripe, and the text: It is with deepest sadness that we report the passing of Chris Mesford, very long-time Tumbleweed and 3RFS family member, on Tuesday, July 8th. Chris was a very special woman: a mother, a long-time, dedicated teacher, a musical performer, and long-time Tumbleweed stalwart who ran the kitchen for our Hospitality service at every festival since the beginning, starting from a grill under the South Shelter in Howard Amon to running a full kitchen crew for both days in the Richland Community Center kitchen. Not to mention nearly single-handedly soliciting & collecting food donations from all sorts of farms & businesses! Chris’s passing will leave a massive hole in the festival, and in all of our hearts. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends. A gathering of friends and family of Chris Mesford Kenoyer will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 1:00pm at Einan's at Sunset Funeral Home, 915 Bypass Hwy Building H, Richland, Washington. There will be no eulogy, just visiting and eating and remembering the joy and privilege of having known Chris. All who loved her are welcome. If you are a musician, please consider bringing your instrument(s) so that there can be music, which Chris would have loved. Chris’s husband Tim asks that if you have any pictures of Chris that you’d like to share for a slide show at the memorial, please send them to us at tumbleweedsubmissions@gmail.com, and we’ll see that he receives them in good time.

Three judges will be in attendance, and will choose the top three songs. The audience will also vote for “People’s Choice.” The announcement of the winners will be made on Saturday evening during the Tumbleweed benefit concert on the North Stage, between performances by “Geoducks” and Deb Seymour. The winner receives $300 and the 2025 Tumbleweed Songwriting Contest trophy; Second Place receives $150, Third Place receives $75, and the “Peoples Choice” receives $50. The winner will then perform their winning song live.

We will provide information about upcoming memorial arrangements as we know them. Please remember Dan for the absolute and utter joy he took in spreading the joy of music both by performing (alone and with many, many musical friends over the years), and by spreading the message on his radio shows to take joy in music, and love the music that you love.

We’re deeply saddened to have to tell you that Dan Maher’s condition has rapidly deteriorated, and he is now at the end of his life.

We’re deeply saddened to have to tell you that Dan Maher’s condition has rapidly deteriorated, and he is now at the end of his life. Thanks to the people who donated to his medical gofundme, Dan is in a nice hospice care home run by people who care about the people they serve. We couldn't ask for a nicer place for him to be. We expect the end to come within days. At this point, if you are so inclined, praying for an end to his suffering would be appropriate.

In 2024, she won both Second Place and the People’s Choice award in the Jane Titland Memorial Songwriting Contest. With an open heart, a beautiful voice, and lots of stories to share, her viridescent songs range from poignant to playful to protest. Rachel will be performing with her dear friend Katie Fitz, a performer and songwriter in her own right and, in Rachel’s words, “my bandmate for life.” Together they have toured up and down the West Coast with their intricate harmonies and arrangements for piano, guitar, and ukelele. This concert is free to 3RFS members. General admission for non-members is $20, at the door. The concert will begin immediately following the 7:00 3RFS Annual Meeting. Park in back of the church and enter the basement via the parking lot door.
