I am far from well off, and It’s almost nothing but I would be happy to pay a lot more than this knowing that over 1m children will be lifted out of poverty or live in less poverty.

It’s the absolute basics of a civilised society. Those of us who can should be paying more for this

I did a short #podcast 12 Days of COP each day from #COP in Glasgow. The discussions still stand & extremely worryingly we are not much further forward.

#COP30 is on. Many experts say just a few years to halt climate catastrophe. Others predict a 3° rise by 2050 which basically means can’t grow much food & much of the planet inhabitable

Yet some carbon funded politicians want us to argue over culture wars or similar 🤷🏻‍♀️🧐

A new chapter for the BBC. Whoever comes next I hope they re-invigorate BBC local radio and regional broadcasting.

That’s where so much real connection with audiences was. Being part of local areas and visible. Having the resources to fully know the patch and be a major part of them.

Being PM has similarlities to being a football manager. Unless voted out chances are you will eventually be unceremoniously sacked anyway by your own side.

#BDisLit last night was utterly fantastic.

@bradford2025 has smashed it this year - proving what so many of us have argued for years. That culture can be the thing that regenerates and transforms

And it makes us happy as the smiles and joy last night shows. Win wins.

I’ve supported universal basic income as long as I can remember

Mid 90s- I did the Political Slot on @Channel4 for @TheGreenParty. I chose to do it on UBI. I had to practice saying “basic PAUSE income” cos no one knew what it was and could think I was saying “base king come”

a good day for democracy - When someone without big money vested financial interests backing wins an election.

Billie Eilish is so right. No one needs to be a billionaire

Somehow western societies have accepted that more more more is not just OK but what we should aspire to and it’s a disaster if not. We don’t always need more.

Because it’s destroying societies and killing our planet

Genuinely, I’m not sure I can claim to speak read and write English to A Level standard.

My mother once tried to teach me some Latin. She gave up because she said I didn’t understand English grammar enough.

Proper upset about #JillyCooper. My fav writer. I read all The Rutshire chronicles from start to finish every few years and they never tire. That’s because she brings a person alive on the page better than anyone

Loss of a true British cultural icon.

I am one of the most positive people I know of. I believe people are good. I truly believe there’s nothing funny about peace, love and understanding.

But these days my despair is way more regularly overwhelming than even I can easily cope with.

So, at coming up to 57, the time has come. I now have to wear glasses all the time.

Trying to be grown up about it and not sulk. 🤓🤓

Yesterday one of, if not the biggest investment into communities in England was announced. Over 200 communities will get £20m to spend on their areas over 10 years. Pride of Place is fantastic news

But media more interested in discussing immigration, Reform & Westminster stories

This morning I’ve had that wonderful first autumn morning when the sun is streaming through but it’s cold, tho not cold enough for heating on, and the air is fresh and you can tell the seasons are changing.

Love the seasons. 🍁🍂☀️ #Leeds
