What We Can Learn From Stupid People
Most think that stupidity is an undesirable quality. Not so. I think stupid people have life pretty figured out. What do I mean by that? Read to find out.

Met a startup founder. Smart guy, solid vision.

Then he hit me with:
🗣️ "Writing takes too much effort. Can we just AI?"
🗣️ "I don’t need AN content writer."

(Yes, AN. A startup founder who could barely spell 🤦‍♂️)

But here’s the part that really stuck with me—he had a point. 🧵👇

Met a startup founder at a tech conference. Cool guy. Had a solid app idea.

Then the convo took a turn:
🗣️ "Can’t we just AI writing?"
🗣️ "There are GPTs for SEO now."
🗣️ "You should start a startup, not a service."

Spoken like someone who’s never had to pay rent 🤦‍♂️

AI agents aren’t coming in years—they’re coming in months. @OpenAI's Operator is already available for Pro account users.

Soon, AI will:
🖱️ Click through apps
📩 Send emails
🌐 Browse the web
📝 Write & research

After that? AGI hits. AI with emotions, reasoning, and self-awareness.

AI is insanely resource-intensive. OpenAI alone burns as much energy as a small country.

That means barriers to entry. The best AI? Tech giants get first dibs.

I work with AI daily, and honestly? It scares the hell out of me. If I didn’t have to embrace it for work, I’d probably hate it too.

“Writing takes a lot of manual effort…we can just automate that with AI now.”

"He’s not just a skilled writer—he’s also handy with GenAI tools… Travis proved there are best practices in this area."

A glowing testimonial from my friend and former colleague Keith Mackenzie at Workable.

SEO is dying as a distribution channel. There, I said it.

The money just isn’t there anymore. Not like it used to be.

The universe is telling me it’s time to pivot.

The phrase "I'll figure it out" has created more millionaires than any MBA program.

Smart people say: "I don't know how to do that yet. I need more training."

"Stupid" people say: "Never done it before, but I'll figure it out."

Guess who wins more often?

Notice how the smartest person at the party is usually alone in the corner while the least intellectual is collecting contacts and having a blast?
There's a brutal lesson here: Success requires networks, not just brains.

Content marketing in 2024? People are tired of faceless brands & AI-generated fluff.

That’s why founder-led content is taking off.

As AI-generated content floods our feeds, authentic voices will stand out more than ever.

I’m doubling down on personality-driven content.

🎥 I lost my last anchor client. And I’ve made a decision.

I’m done with SEO. It’s not what it used to be, and it’s no longer a good distribution channel. Content still matters—but the game has changed. 🧵👇

I’m not just a content creator—I’m a content strategist too.

When I started working with Workable, I saw an opportunity:

“HR pros are going to Google ‘how to use ChatGPT for hiring.’ Workable needs to be the first thing they see.”

Why are so many successful people kinda... stupid?

Simple: They believe in themselves 100%.

No overthinking. No self-doubt Just pure, unearned confidence.

Meanwhile, smarter folks see all the ways they could fail and talk themselves out of trying.

🎉 Think of your typical party:

Corner: Genius on phone, judging everyone's music taste

Center: Complete dummy doing keg stands, wearing a lampshade

Who gets ahead in life? The dummy. Almost always.

AI doesn’t replace writing. It helps you write faster and better.

A blog post used to take me a full day. Now, I get it done before lunch—without sacrificing quality.

2024 has been rough for content writers. AI shook things up, and I’m feeling it too.

But here’s the good news: I just wrapped up my first AI training workshop for business owners. My first speaking gigs are rolling in.

Friendly reminder that I will block/mute/report any and all news and current events content.

If it has the words "Trump" or "Elon" in it, I don't want that shit on my feed.

Testing out Substack as my newest content distribution channel. Just reposted my spicy article about what stupid people can teach us about success.

The TLDR? Success isn't about being smart - it's about being too dumb to know you can fail

"Don't do anything by half. If you love someone, love them with all your soul. When you go to work, work your ass off. When you hate someone, hate them until it hurts."

Keith Mackenzie said it best:

“Travis is great. He’ll be an asset to any content team—equally adept at planning and creating. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better ideator, writer, and partner in all things content.”

If you need content that actually moves the needle, I’m your guy.
