The pilot of Halifax LL541 was Gerry Lister of Amherst, Nova Scotia. He is buried at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, Blacon, Chester, England. #LestWeForget @novascotiamuseum.bsky.social

A wreath laying ceremony to mark the 80th Anniversary of the loss of the 8-man Canadian crew of Halifax Bomber LL541, near Rhayader in 1944, was held at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre yesterday. It can now be viewed on YouTube. Many thanks to @saltwatersteve.bsky.social

Criw awyren Halifax LL541, wyth o Ganadiaid ifanc a fu farw ar Ragfyr 12 1944 get Rhaeadr Gwy, Powys. Fe fyddwn yn cofio amdanyn nhw ar Ragfyr 12 2024 gyda dau wasanaeth coffa, yn Rhaeadr Gwy a Phentre Elan.

The eight young Canadians who were the crew of Halifax LL541 who died on December 12th 1944 near Rhayader, Powys. We will be remembering them on December 12th 2024 with memorial services at Rhayader and Elan Village.

Eighty years ago, On December 12th, 1944, eight young Canadians died when their Halifax bomber crashed near Rhayader. They gave their lives to preserve our freedom. Join us in Rhayader, Powys on December 12th, 2024 to remember the crew of LL541. Lest we forget.
