24 early-career ecologists from 13 African countries have arrived at Mpala Research Centre for the #EcologyMasterclass - two weeks of hands-on training in the Kenyan savanna to build skills, confidence and networks.

We wrapped up our 2025 field course at Lake Mburo National Park — swapping forest trails for savannah, boat rides, and charismatic wildlife. A perfect way to end a month of learning, sharing, and building connections. Huge thanks to participants, teachers, and partners who made this course possible.

As the course draws to a close, students are presenting the results of their independent research — sharing findings, reflecting on challenges, and learning to communicate science. It’s inspiring to see the range of questions and the confidence grown in just weeks. Conservation is in good hands.
