Evening #GenHour was at a Zoom meeting this morning for the Family Historian Zoom Group. We had a talk by @coachcarole.bsky.social on the practical uses of AI in Genealogy. A superb talk. It covered how AI can assist your research rather than find you info about your ancestors #Genealogy

To all my friends....you will no longer be able to direct message me as @bsky.app insists I need to do age verification. No way am I giving it's 3rd party a facial scan or my credit card details. If it reduces too many other features then I may well leave and not come back.

I forgot to add this to my #OnThisDay post yesterday and it is something I find very touching & yet so coincidental. After Dad's funeral in church we went to the crematorium in Eastbourne. The funeral cortege, unexpectedly& unplanned, took the coastal road across the marshes to Eastbourne ....2/

I've created a basic template timeline in Excel. I've added facts and events that happened in the UK during the period 1800 - 2000. I 'm using this for my ancestors; customising it to their cradle to grave time period and added in extra according to their occupations & local events too. #GenHour

#OnThisDay in 2006 was the funeral service for my father in Bexhill, East Sussex. He was 87 years old. My nephew called him a gentleman and he was. A kind, caring gentle man who rarely raised his voice. It is appropriate that I am looking for more newspaper reports of him #FamilyHistory #GenHour

This month's topic for my U3A FH group meeting has to begin with the letter T. I pondered tombstones,Travel, Tragedy, Trains, Turnpikes, Tithes, Troublemakers, Traditions and Timelines. I settled for Timelines as it is so helpful for finding gaps in my research. #Genealogy #GenealogyStories ../2

Evening #GenHour I haven't been doing much genealogy other than research about the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs, their silver spoons and the Donegal Badge. Folk on here were great help. I think I have my "S" topic for my family history group well on the way:- Society, Silver, Spoon, Shooting.
