PRAYER FOR THE YOUNG AND THE OLD

It is our current inclination to despair:
For the young
It is maddening to be left with a future
Of environmental degradation
And fascist cults.
And for the old….

A PRAYER FOR DEMOCRACY

Blessed Holy Wholeness,

The Powers That Be
May be
In power
For now.

But we are the powers
that were
and are
and will be.
Amen

I like to vote on Election Day. My mother was a member of the League of Women Voters, one of the few ways women could be part of the political process in the fifties and early sixties. She took us into the voting booth & let me yank the handle that registered your vote. I miss that yank.

Trump’s latest target? The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, one of America’s last truly wild places. His administration just announced plans to open it up for oil and gas drilling, turning 1.56 million acres of pristine wilderness (home to polar bears, caribou, and migratory birds)

Hey, I don’t tell you who to vote for for Mayor where you live, don’t be telling me who to vote for where I live. NYC will decide for itself. And we are not inclined to vote for a corrupt sexual abuser endorsed by Donald Trump, Eric Adams, billionaires and real estate interests.

There is a full-on push in NYC right now to use "Mamdani doesn't make Jews 'feel safe'" as a cudgel to get Cuomo into office, and it is utterly disgusting. You know what makes me feel unsafe? People who casually characterize us as a trembling single-issue monolith scared of the big bad Muslim.

Pave over Rose Garden for tacky Mar-A-Lardo Patio ✅
Demolish East Wing after lying that "It won't interfere with the current building. It'll be near it but not touching it" ✅

Sukkot: SITTING IN EMPTINESS

On Sukkot, we sit in the sukkah:
In an empty room
Porous walls
Holes in the ceiling
No door

And we feel the same:
No hope
Unprotected
Everything bad gets in
And literally, no exit…….
