The shift from nationalisation to privatisation would be the key shift for me, but I take your point. Thatcher didn't appear without context, but in her case the cure was certainly worse than the disease

Interesting question. If the causal route is "right" -> A -> B -> C -> "wrong" then Thatcherism effectively upended the post-War consensus, which was generally more effective in reducing poverty, building infrastructure and improving health/welfare than any time since, so wins my vote as the start
