As someone who grew up military, I can attest to the fact that that the commissary on base crushed private enterprise grocery stores & retail stores on price. So much so that if it wasn't for the fact that we are always at war with someone, more people would join the military just for the shopping.😏

The US almost had universal healthcare. No, not the time Hillary Clinton tried to pass it, nor under Obama. It was Truman who first tried to pass it but the AMA and the private insurance industry declared war on "socialized medicine" and sank it in public opinion.🙁

The reason these particular Dems caved was bc a) they get a lot of money from airline PACs, and b) bc Dick Durbin & Jeanne Shaheen are retiring, John Fetterman & Maggie Hassan aren't up for reelection until 2028, & Tim Kaine, Jacky Rosen and Angus King aren't up until 2030.

Remember their names.

As one of those federal employees, I couldn’t agree more.

“Preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move.”
Harm to SNAP recipients, federal workers, and others is real. In a normal democracy it’d make sense to prioritize reducing that harm in the short term.

In a rapidly backsliding democracy, harm is happening no matter what. Preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move.

Tim Kaine won't be up for re-election until '30, but Mark Warner's term ends in '26. Let's send a message to Kaine by primarying Warner. It's not like Warner was an innocent bystander. Never forget this betrayal. Kaine will be looking in his rearview for the next 5 yrs.

Every day until the primaries, voters in their states should call these offices and tell them, "We'll remember this betrayal. You're going to lose your job bc of it".

Here's the list:
Dick Durbin
Angus King
Catherine Cortez Masto
Jacky Rosen
John Fetterman
Tim Kaine
Jeanne Shaheen
Maggie Hassan.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

They agree to guarantee funding for SNAP through 2026 (already guaranteed; Trump just refused to release the funds), rehire dismissed fed workers (who will again be hostages) for the "promise" of a vote on healthcare. The only people worse at deal making are the Dems.

Add 4 more to the list to be primaried (next year!!!!):
Ossoff (GA)
Shaheen (NH)
Warner (VA)
Booker (NJ)

Let's make it happen. We must remove all quislings in the resistance.

Put Tim Kaine on the list of Senators to be primaried at the first opportunity. We just went through 40 days of utter nonsense to get NOTHING. Those federal workers are back to being hostages for the next time Trump has a tantrum and Kaine utterly failed to protect healthcare for a GOP "promise".🤬

There wasn't any choice on Tuesday, but if Spanberger is pushing the Senate Dems to cave, I fully regret my choice to support her. This is about as tone deaf as it gets. This fight is about people losing their healthcare, food, the very essentials for life. If you can't protect those, you're unfit.

Any Dem Senator who agrees to a deal on the "promise" of a later vote on ACA healthcare subsidies is unfit for office and should be primaried as soon as possible. Republican promises aren't worth the breath required to voice them. They have been and continue to be lies.
