as much as I fear hard drive failures what I dread more is future operating systems being entirely incompatible with the formats I have all my shit saved in. Of the programs I like to use no longer being operable in the ever-changing world of system architecture.

It's not so much the will to fight, it's that we would be facing the same problems as the Continental Army had during the Revolutionary War: the enemy is a larger, better equipped army of loyalists. Plus, modern conflicts are a nightmarish morass of logistics and urban warfare stratagems.
