Ogles’ amendment to allow more than 2 presidential terms is silly political theater. No way 2/3 of Congress (or the States) will put the amendment up for ratification, let alone getting 3/4 of the States to actually ratify. Something like 200 const. amendments are proposed each congress—all DOA.

#DemonCopperhead by #BarbaraKingsolver is so timely. A retelling of #CharlesDickens’ #DavidCopperfield, Kingsolver—marvelously—steps into the mind of a mixed-race boy in Appalachia, growing up (or at least trying to) bound by the chains of poverty & seen institutionally as only a commodity. #booksky

Nearly 5 feet tall, Max Beckmann’s 1950 painting depicts this woman as a strong and powerful figure who tosses men aside, suggested symbolically by the image of the Jack atop the discarded playing cards on the table. Such a badass. #stlouisartmuseum #maxbeckmann #art
