How are you going to ensure it's not ppl "wanting" to drive their motor vehicles into town?

It sounds like you're in favour of congestion pricing, & reducing ur personal vehicle lane kms in support of other modes.

It has to cost something.

Halifax mayor defends motion to temporarily pause new bike lane infrastructure | CBC News
Andy Fillmore said the move is in response to frustration among residents and business owners over 'worsening traffic congestion' and the escalating project costs associated with the bicycle network.

This reminds me. I have always wanted to see a simple GIS map of road building and maintenance costs. Sort of like these examples. If possible, it would be great to have it categorized by mode.

Does the same exist for Canada? I can't find design specs related to the safety of ppl outside of motor vehicles. Like, ppl w/ no protections. Let's actually have the "safest roads in the world". So let's reform. @OmarAlghabra @Transport_gc @LeahGazan https://t.co/OBP59hYrSe https://t.co/oQ0Fyth6ep

People get paid to do this horrible job? @cityofwinnipeg
March 28, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Wow. @cityofwinnipeg you just purposefully left the sidewalk full of snow but cleared all of City Hall grounds and the roads. Thanks for being an amazing neighbour. This city needs to be forced to care or nothing will change from inside. Even right outside it’s front doors.

Absolute pleasure this morning. A Proper path w/ proper maintenance. A+ @YWGairport

Your move @cityofwinnipeg. A safe, intuitive, and maintained connection to downtown w/ wayfinding signs please. https://x.com/torrinswanson/status/1532790561454886912

In Edmonton, that’s $42.5 per person per year. Right on par.

In Winnipeg we spend $2 per person per year. https://x.com/ctvedmonton/status/1574906516624351233

#1 or settle for #2?

Great, now can we remove the rocks from under both sides of the bridge? You know, spend money to remove the things we purposefully spent money on to deter our houseless community. https://x.com/cityofwinnipeg/status/1553040878574309380

Meanwhile in Vancouver they have basketball courts, table tennis, and birthday parties under their bridges. In Winnipeg, we have councillors actively keeping jagged rocks so no one can take shelter in the elements. @jbrowaty we can do much better.

You should see my camera roll. It’s at 11,000 pictures and counting. I only have shared the ones that I can make into high-level stories. I hope someone is listening on the design and policy side of things. It’s fun biking around new cities. https://x.com/Burgundavia/status/1543661099421089792

Bike parking is a mess here too. Asked many ppl where the free and safe bike parking is and no one knows for sure. I gave up and locked to fence. Not intuitive = locking bikes to anything they can find. Not ideal. Others storing bikes next to them = less room in a packed park.

Just chaotic standstill polluting the air. Why is this island open to public cars? Park them outside and electric shuttle people in. Right now, Very angry drivers wielding 5000lbs weapons. Not fun.

But, I don’t always like to rag. B/c sometimes you find some gold like this, Pacific/Beach Ave expanded for all levels of people on bikes and pedestrians. Many path options and very very wide lanes to accommodate social conversation and tourists taking photos. Amazing job.

These ones that were installed in 2021 are missing for some reason. Know why? Construction?
Super thanks for the installation! Really adds something subtle to the streetscape. People are around.

Hi again @cityofwinnipeg, can we please get some night time dim lights and a new surface that actually drains when it rains so it isn’t super muddy and wet? Asking for a friend. Waterfront and Provencher walkway.
March 28, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Just lovely. Our infrastructure is crumbling or just not well built in the first place. It’s as if we didn’t build for wet, rainy, cold or snowy but only for a sunny warm climate.

Where did all the cars go? Are we upgrading these ~40 motor vehicle stalls to a two storey ~2000 bicycle parking garage? Who even is driving to the @TheForks anyways these days? Asking for a friend who can’t afford $2+ gas.

Love me some maritime plastic garbage. Seems like we need name & address tags on these @FishOceansCAN. 3rd one i’ve found.
