One warm summer day, I couldn't resist the urge to capture these colors. So, over a decade ago, laying in the earth of my Oregon garden allotment–looking up with a bug's-eye-view–this picture is of the underside of deep yellow-orange California poppies against a brilliant blue sky. The slice of the sun’s orb on the right of the frame shines through the petals revealing stamen silhouettes, and picks out the fine edges of the lacy green poppy leaves. This picture makes me smile, and always reminds me of how everything is interconnected.
