The day just got better. Carlsberg. Undoubtedly the finest cooking lager in the world.

It’s a lovely day for cricket. A day off from my editorial duties.

Love is in the air,
Everywhere I look around.
Love is in the air,
Every sight and every sound.

And it’s not surprising. The beauty perfected just turned up at my table. Be still my beating heart…

Getting ten miles in before it gets hot. A beautiful morning.

It’s a long time since I’ve slept under a tree in the park, but suitably refreshed after a ten mile tab, I’m now in what Stormzy tells me is the oldest pub in Britain. Or the world. Built by Boudicca it was a regular haunt of Julius Caesar, Henry VIII, The Platagenets and other historical geezers.

There’s no nicer spot to rest awhile than in the shade, by a cricket pitch on a hot day.

The upper slopes of the Roundwood Estate are the most peaceful and, to my eye, beautiful. The only noise, birdsong.

No better way to spend an early summer morning than walking out and enjoying our green and pleasant land. Maybe a cider with Rosie later, to complete the literary allusion…
