A new exciting milestone 🥁

Users have collectively freed up over 2TB of storage with the help of purgoapp.com! 🎉
My first year is behind me. Let's hope the next one will be slightly better 😄 🚀

Whaaat, purgoapp.com is now #4 in Hong Kong in the utilities category, right after the Google app 🤯

Most likely won't be there for long, but I'm framing this screenshot haha 🥳

Never mind, Apple just wiped 2 of them 😅
Wow, nice, four 5 ⭐️ reviews in the first day. I could get used to this 😄
Nice, my new app was approved on the first go 🚀 Should add that to my CV 😄

Decided to add a free trial to Purgo. Not sure why I haven't set it up from the get-go. Interested to see the stats after a few weeks.

This is amazing! purgoapp.com is slowly starting to get a bit of traction, and it is so cool to see people cleaning up their galleries almost every day now 🧼

But what really made my day was this comment on my latest Reddit post. It means the world to me! 🚀

Found a weird bug in TipKit in iOS 18.4. In a specific case, when using a popoverTip inside a modal view, the background can disappear.

My promo for Purgo is almost at its end. Some stats so far:

⬇️ ~3k have downloaded the app
✅ Out of these ~28% made at least one review
🗑️ Out of those who have reviewed ~64% actually emptied the trash
⭐️ Out of those who should have seen the rating popup (upon emptying the trash) ~2% left a rating

Well, this is new to me, but I love it 😄 A lot of people are trying Purgo out and I'm getting some great feedback. It feels great to have some actionable steps, rather than just building things out into the void which I am guessing someone might enjoy.

Hello, friends! I just put Purgo lifetime for free for a couple of days 🎁 So if you'd like to give it a go, now's the perfect moment! I'd be grateful for any feedback you might have! More in my Reddit post.

Thanks, Xcode, that's exactly what I had in mind!

Today, I was setting up a new MacBook for my dad, and the process is getting easier and easier.

You just open the new one, connect it to the old one, and it transfers everything. It even uses a peer-to-peer connection so it is super fast 🚀

Very cool!

Off to a great start! Turns out the heavy lifting for scanning can be handled quite easily with Apple's APIs. Today, I'll be focusing on the user flow (without iCloud for now).

Also experimenting with porting some of the ideas I love from Laravel to my SwiftUI workflow.
Now that the similar photos feature for Purgo is done, it's time for a new project.

This time, the goal isn't so much about the app or the outcome but about learning to be faster. I always spend too much time on different details while the runway is steadily shrinking.

If you have tons of photos taking up your storage space, give purgoapp.com a shot. Now with similar photos detection ✨

I made a couple of promo codes, and I’d be super grateful for some feedback. DM me if you are interested and I'll send over the code.

Thanks 🙌🏼

What the heck, that was super fast 🚀

Approved ✅

This was fast 🧐

So far so good. A couple of people have tested it and it looks like it’s ready to go 🚀

Also gave it a bit of a stress test - my mom has 36k photos in her gallery 😄 Worked nicely and it found almost 10 GB of similar photos 😄
Almost ready! Finally 😄 Just a couple tiny things to iron out, and I can send it to beta testers. If everything goes smoothly, I’m hoping to have it live early next week 🚀
Building UIs is just painful for me. I've managed to iron out most of the logic I need, but now I have to nicely package it, and it always takes me much longer than I'd like.

Hoping to finish it soon.

Recently, I've read all three Hunger Games books, and I was surprised by how true the movies are to the books.

At least the first one, because I've seen that one several times and when reading the book, nothing surprised me or was new to me. Usually, this is not the case.

Playing around with a similar photo detection feature for purgoapp.com. Made decent progress so far 🙌 Hoping to have it ready for testing soon 👀

Going to start experimenting with A/B testing. Don't have as many impressions as I'd like yet, but no point in waiting. Planning to compensate with a longer test period instead. Just have to work with what I've got.

It is kinda fun to have some constraints when programming. Be it memory footprint, CPU being the bottleneck, etc. Perfect for learning how to think outside the box.

Repeat after me: Don't use complex computed properties. I repeat: Do not use complex computed properties.
