I too really enjoyed @sochistorywar.bsky.social 's annual conference in Potsdam. Good to see many friends and acquaintances and get to know some new ones! And it was a pleasure to present my new research project in our panel on 'Imperial boomerangs' convened by Sibylle Scheipers
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for SHoW 2025! 🇩🇪

Great conversations and even better company. Our members are at the heart of SHoW, and it really showed this year.

Thank you to the ZMSBw and the University of Potsdam for their hospitality!

If you have photos, please DM them our way!📸

I was struck today by the fact that this rather new Edeka supermarket ostentatiously displays the German supermarket chain’s origins as a cooperative of Kolonialwarenhändler, i.e. grocers selling predominantly colonial-origin goods. (at Forum Schwanthalerhöhe, Munich, opened 2019)

Newest in AI craze: Academia.edu now pushes AI-generated reviews of my own uploads on me: an AI-generated review of a book review (!)&a podcast in which a supposed Academia director has a “friendly chat” with undefined listeners (“folks”) abt an article of mine. Things are getting very weird indeed
