Now that I've seen northern lights, that just leaves a tornado for me to still see, preferably moving away from me.

Within the past week, I could have sworn I heard someone from the government claiming gas to be approaching $2.00 a gallon. Today's fill was at $3.29 for regular. I'd call that a long ways from $2.00.

The story is that there are lots of protest planned for today. Why did @apnews.com feel compelled to add a GOP talking point to its headline? 😖

Anyone who does the family grocery shopping knows which way food prices are going. Everything is more expensive.

Today's gospel. The Good Samaritan. The priest hit many good points in his homily. Might have been just a bit more clear for people who couldn't connect the dots to the government's deportation effort.

What's to prevent dark money donations from encouraging pastors to make the preferred endorsements? This is a pathway to churches losing members. www.npr.org/2025/07/08/n...
IRS says churches can now endorse political candidates
Since 1954, an IRS rule had barred houses of worship from explicitly endorsing political candidates.

The US spends more on defense than the next 9 biggest spending countries, including 3x as much as its closest rival. Can someone help me understand why we need to increase it at the cost of programs for food and healthcare? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

You know how pro wrestlin' has a lot of insults flying as part of the show? The audience eats it up. Wondering if we're being played by the feud.

If the bill is so "beautiful", you'd think they would have not chosen to go with the middle of the night to pass it.

You know that moment when someone lets you know that you are singing the wrong lyrics to a song? Yes, it's embarrassing, but you adjust and proudly sing the right lyrics from that day forward. This same concept applies when professing "facts" that turn out to be wrong.

Just noticed the word "Young" to describe the fryer I started roasting. It was 5.55 lbs. Is there actually any time variation when individual chickens in a poultry barn are selected for processing? I was under the impression they fill a barn one day and X days later, process the whole barn.

If there's waste and fraud in a system, you find it, eliminate it, and implement prevention strategies. You don't just throw out the system.

If you're close to or north of normal retirement age and still won't vote based on your principles for fear of losing your seat, then you aren't doing your job. More than half the senate is 65+. Reach deep and do what's right. You'll have a happier retirement.

Pandemic movies always seem to have that one person on an airplane who looks a little feverish. Now airplanes aren't needed for viruses to go global. Birds are those planes. Bad time to put handcuffs on the CDC.
It's like 'dead birds flying': How bird flu is spreading in the wild
That's the way one scientist puts it — referring to how infected wild birds survive long enough to spread it to birds and mammals around the world. And that's a serious risk for human health.
