"Well, what shall we hang? The holly, or each other?"

Now that's a Christmas movie.

From 'The Lion in Winter' (1968).
With the brilliant Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole

Fell on my ass at the tavern trying to show off and now a bard is writing a song about me, fuck. He’s calling my ass my gratuitous rump. He’s saying I whinnied like a mule on the way down.

December 26, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Precis.

Oh no this is horrible news. Rest in peace Perry Bamonte. I’ve only ever seen The Cure live once and it was on the Wish tour when Perry was in the band (two years into a fifteen year long stint). It was great to see and hear he was part of the set up again on their last tour. Such sad news. #TheCure

Here we are in a state in a state with a Democratic legislative supermajority on the cusp of a nationwide blue wave in the midterm elections, and our Governor is using the "affordability" lens to promote policies that are purely, 100% right wing and could just as easily be promoted by the GOP.
Cutting property taxes for Oregonians affected by wildfires. Canceling planned freeway tolls. Pausing local new taxes in the Portland area. We have to keep going to make life more affordable for Oregonians.

Now he is worried about being arrested and deported for the crime of monitoring online hate.

Here is a confession, when they show that ad before the movies where two google pixels are re-enacting scenes from different movies, and they do the song from Wicked For Good, I didn't know the music and for weeks I was like "damn, this is pretty good writing for a google pixel ad" lol

When I was on CNN's northeast desk, the first job at 6a every morning was to read the local papers. That guided some of what the massive CNN machine followed every day.

When those papers die, CNN doesn't hire new regional reporters. What you get instead is more panel shows, more punditry.
"The newspaper industry served as a feeder for our entire news media ecosystem. So when we lose those newspapers, we've lost that journalism. In the early 2000s, we had 40 journalists per 100,000 people. We're now down to 8 journalists per 100,000 people," says @victorpickard.bsky.social.
