This point by Greg is at the core of why I don't think I can ever just accept that trans kids are going to lose access to care.
Because, you see, I was hospitalized twice for depression/suicidality when I was 16. I was on multiple psychiatric medications. My parents were wracked with worry.

As a comparison - there are VERY few suicide deaths in children. 10-20 for kids under 10, and ~500 for those 10-14. It would be CRUEL to say that last-line treatments for depression (ECT, TMS, ketamine, etc) shouldn't be given to those kids most in need of them.

Do as you want, I cut down on caffeine almost two decades ago, but it's kind of interesting that these industries that run an addictive properties first have this hipster backlash (low abv cocktails, etc), and then "why is [generation] ruining [industry]?" pieces.

Last year I traveled all the way to rural Vietnam to officiate a friend's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony that mixed cultures and language, and was a celebration of the best of humanity.

At this point, we should treat almost all the media coverage about AI consciousness, ethical consequence, personhood etc as downstream from AI corporate marketing and comms efforts. It’s all they have since the gloss wore off the initial excessive claims.
