I am in search of data on prices of cotton and cotton yarn in 1845-1851. Does anyone among the #econhist here know of a good source that would give me the same level of price detail as the attached screenshot of an illustrative price list from an 1854 issue of one Austrian newspaper?

After several days of nothing but tedious coursework marking, I finally found time again to work on research. It went about as well as is usual.

Interesting. I had thought the pace was much faster than this... (to say nothing of Paul Ehrlich's erstwhile claim that Britain had 50:50 chance of being under water by year 2000).
Global mean sea levels have increased by around 25 centimeters since 1880

Ah, yes, I've read my English-Hungarian dictionary many times. And with every reading, I find a new twist to the plot!
I don’t know how to tell you this, but the point of buying books is to, at some point, read them.

I know. It was surprising to me too. 😭

Masaryk údajně Čapkovi pravil: "Nebudu se bát, až když tady demokracie vydrží padesát let." K dnešku 35 z těch 50 už máme za sebou, 15 nám ještě schází. Tak do toho, ať to fakt vydrží. #Czech #VelvetRevolution #Listopad #FallOfCommunism

"Invalid Handle"? What does that mean? I'm quite happy to fix it, if only I could figure out how.
