"When I gave up anonymity, my children were ashamed to have the name. But I have grandchildren called Pelicot. I want them not to be ashamed of the name. I want them to be proud of their grandmother. I want people to remember Madame Pelicot not Monsieur Pelicot."

Greater Manchester Police has some serious problems and often, I believe, manage to hide behind The Met being the big target of failures/issues so GMP manages to fly under the radar of criticism. Their handling of SV cases is poor and this is beyond sick.

On this day, in 1922, Shapurji Saklatvala was elected as the MP for Battersea North. He was Labour's first MP of colour. A communist and anti-colonialist, he was a founder member of the Workers' Welfare League and attempted to unionise Indian seafarers in Britain's port cities.
