In my other life I am a housing Non-Exec
Tomorrow I start cancelling services I have with US companies as many as it practical that I can still do my job, first to go are Dropbox, wetransfer, most Google services too, I can’t buy from that country, for the same reason I don’t buy from Russia or Isreal.

I would hope some footballers start speaking up if the associations refuse to do so.

Frankly FIFA is a corrupt clique so I expect nothing from them, Qatar was a terrible decision and the US is looking like a big mistake, plus the peace prize I mean what a load of shit, they are devaluing the idea of taking part or winning this competition.

Boycott the World Cup! How many innocent people have to be murdered by the US gov, before a single FA has the balls to say anything?

It’s already a civil war, thing is, only one side is actually firing their weapons.

They know what they say is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

The media know that what they repeat is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

Their supporters know what they are told is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

Telling the truth is not enough, unless people care about the truth.

Will no-one rid me of this turbulent POTUS. I’m looking at you knights of Normandy….

French sports minister "I am one who believes in keeping sport separate [from politics]. The World Cup is an extremely important moment for those who love sport."
Absolute bullshit, it is entangled with politics or else they wouldn’t have given Trump a made up prize.
January 21, 2026 at 6:09 PM
Europe should threaten to boycott the World Cup it is about the best negotiating card we have. Problem is that they won’t because the sporting bodies don’t see themselves as political (even though that is just not true, see FIFA peace prize ….)

You cannot appease Trump.

You can either have greater leverage or - even better - remove yourself from whatever power he has.

There is nothing else to do.

At least Woodrow Wilson’s notion of a League of Nations did not involve the United States bombing each country in turn and then claiming a FIFA peace prize.

Politicians are terrified of an electorate they think is far more authoritarian and angry and right wing than it actually is, because they are out of touch because the literal media - the thing that mediates between public and polity - is corrupted

The BBC should retract their apology, and countersue for defamation in implying they used AI to make him say something he didn't. His statements undermine the BBCs reputation & credibility which will have a financial impact upon them, then they should claim all costs thus far.

I mean he is STILL trying to change the result of that election even now, by suing in Georgia, even though it would disqualify him from office.
December 16, 2025 at 9:29 AM
A US court has already ruled that Trump WAS trying to interfere with the 2020 election result. So hard to prove that the BBC saying that, albeit with a crude edit would be defamation. Especially since they were all words that actually came out of his mouth in the order they came out.

And once more because it bares repeating. *Criticism of Israel is not antisemitism*
Their current leadership is almost certainly guilty of something they claim to abhor.

I am as the descendent of holocaust survivors and so i say this with an understanding of history... But there is no doubt in my mind that the disproportionate actions of Israel in Gaza have painted a target on the backs of all jewish people.

What happened in Australia is horrific. The gunmen and any that helped them are the only people who chose to do this and can never face sufficient justice, to make this right.

So yes I consider myself a Swiftie regardless of what I think about individual pieces of music, and I hope if you think the qualities listed above are admirable you can consider that you are a Swifite too.

For reference this is what I think she’s great at. Leadership and creativity in every form. Care and love for those who work for her or consider themselves fans. Standing up for what she believes in, political support, LGBTQ rights, quiet charitable action, genuine compassion & emotional engagement.

It’s Taylor Swifts birthday today, so here is something I’ve been thinking for a while. Being is a Swiftie is not contingent on liking her music. As far as I’m concerned being a Swiftie is just about respecting her as a person and her actions.

And to do this go after their electorate. The easiest way to do this is educate them, spend as much as you can on teaching people how to learn, teach them why compassion always pays off and show them how to fact check these bottom feeders.
