I was car free for years and spent so much effort making myself reliably visible... when I finally started driving again I was actually amazed at how well car headlights work. turns out I can see someone in all black just fine actually!

seems like the problem isn't 'trump america' but rather that the american system can not rein him in. so any treaty or agreement is just one election away from chaos.

sure... but this isn't an argument against speed cameras. if the populace wants to pay more in taxes to fund these things, okay. but I don't think they do, and in the meantime speed cameras objectively make our communities safer.

eh, not every section of autobahn is unrestricted and speed cameras are used throughout Germany. also much higher gas taxes maintain the infra to a much higher standard. if we did all those things, surez maybe. but it makes no sense to pick and choose

that's a weird take. I think crimes should be punished, even if a car was used. how we punish those crimes is actually a totally different discussion. eliminate jail for all murders? well, maybe? I guess? I mean it's complicated, sure. just for car drivers though? nah, sorry.

I feel like I understand sexism/racism/homophobia/bigotry in general a lot better since I started cycling everywhere all those years ago.
as a cis white guy, having random people threaten me, fantasize about murdering me, or even just stupidly lecture me was a new and illuminating experience
