Recycle your real tree for free!

All Eco-Depots and Transfer Stations accept real trees for free during January. Please remove all lights and decorations before dropping off. Please note that artificial trees cannot be recycled.

All TNRD Eco-Depots and Transfer Stations are closed on Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Day except for the Sun Peaks Transfer Station which is open daily from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm during winter months.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library is pleased to share that an accessible, street-level book drop bin will be installed at the Chase Library, thanks to grant funding from the Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia (SPARC BC).

The TNRD Board has approved updates to recycling fees for mattresses and boxsprings, effective January 1, 2026, in response to an indefinite delay by the Province of BC to add these materials to its Recycling Regulation.

The TNRD was honoured to join leadership from Neskonlith Indian Band to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, recognizing the commitment by both governments to collaboration, communication, and reconciliation.

The TNRD has been informed that BC Assessment decided that proposed changes to valuation of pipelines will not proceed in 2026. These changes would have shifted 23-30% of property taxes paid by pipeline companies onto residential and business property owners.

The TNRD Board has, for a second time, written an urgent letter to the Ministry of Finance to request that proposed changes by BC Assessment be postponed that would shift taxes owing from pipeline companies to residential and business properties.

Multiple atmospheric rivers are forecast to hit the south coast, beginning this evening (Dec 9) and continuing through the weekend. Some parts of the TNRD, particularly the southern Fraser Canyon and Coquihalla corridor, will see significant rainfall.

Hi there Shay and Summer, correct, there is no seasonal change to Pritchard Eco-Depot hours. The TNRD has 27 solid waste sites and only 7 sites adjust their hours between winter and summer.

(In our post, we list 8 sites; Simpcw/ Chu Chua Transfer Station is not operated by TNRD). Hope this helps!

TNRD offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 for Remembrance Day.

Eco-Depots and Transfer Stations will be open with regular hours where applicable.

We encourage residents to observe Remembrance Day and consider sacrifices made by those who have served, and continue to do so. #LestWeForget

The TNRD is providing notice of a public meeting being held on Nov. 10 to provide an update on the CPKC train derailment and subsequent cleanup.

Updates will be provided by CPKC, Ministry of Environment, Environment Canada, and Interior Health.

The TNRD has received water quality test results taken at the intake for the #Savona Community Water System; at this time, there is no contamination and there has been no impact to water following the CPKC train derailment on November 1, 2025.

During the inaugural Board Meeting this afternoon (November 6, 2025), Ashcroft Director Barbara Roden was acclaimed as Chair and Logan Lake Director Robin Smith was acclaimed as Vice-Chair for the fourth and final year of the Board's term.
