Essential reading from @carolecadwalla.bsky.social. Not comforting, but it helps me set my compass for survival & resistance.

Item 15 from Rebecca Solnit: "If they try to normalize, let us try to denormalize. Let us hold on to facts, truths, values, norms..."

Fight their lies with truth & values.

Our solar powered on/off grid farm energy system initially used more environmentally friendly saltwater batteries that never performed well. Can no longer find a US distributor. Upgraded to four stacks of Homegrid LFPs, six 110 pound batteries per stack. Double the energy storage in half the space.

With the heavy pulsatile rain and episodes of drought more frequent in New England, we have repaired gutters, added water barrels, and diverted the remainder into lined dry creeks & 2 storage ponds (10k gallons). Maybe experiment with growing northern wild rice???

Many homesteads have a ‘dog chair’. Shiloh & Rufus are sharing for warmth as we do not use the Hwam low emission wood stove to burn our dead ash trees (borers) until <30F. Relying on solar array/battery system powered mini split heat pumps this time of year.
