They were on day three of Harper's injury and she'd whined like a dying animal the entire first two after her doctor told her it was a mild concussion, and no lights, no television or devices. Not even talking. Nothing but lying down in pure dark quiet. It had taken all the testosterone he could muster to force her to do any of those things. And he'd caught her–twice–watching game highlights on her phone. He'd had to hide the damn thing. Ty let him bow out of drills early after he mentioned the personal business from the day before wasn't resolved, and he made it back to her apartment less than an hour after the doctor left. The man had texted to let him know it was fine for her to get up and move around, but nothing else. Unsurprisingly, he'd walked in and found her absolutely not doing nothing else. "Am I going to have to tie you to the bed?" "Now that sounds like a plan. As soon as I finish working out." He marched over and snatched the weight out of her grip. "What the hell? Doc said I could do things." "Get off the sofa, he said, walk a little. Not things." He set the dumbbell back onto the rack. "Nash." "Harper." She growled. Then winced because he could tell dammit, her head still hurt despite all her arguing. "It's five pounds. I can do that with my pinky." She stuck a finger out and wiggled it to prove her point. But it wasn't her pinky. "Harper." "Nash." She grabbed the three pound weight. "Okay." He leaned in and took that weight from her, too. "You asked for it."

For my Club Licentia characters communication is vital, so they do it very well.
In Coach's Challenge it goes great, until one instance that they clear up within days.
"We've been stellar at communication until now," he said. "I don't know what happened. But I'm sorry."

Sometimes they show up when the character does. But often, especially w/a series, I think of one I'd like to use for the next character that pops up w/a story in that series. Then that character lets me know if the kink fits or I need to wait for someone else.

This is a difficult one. There are so many general things to follow, but most also have caveats.
Keep your characters true to themselves is a big one. But. Sometimes the story is based on them exploring themselves. But. Deep down they will still be them & that must show.

There were no friends–or lovers for that matter–in hockey, unless you were on the same team. "Can't even talk, huh?" I stuck out my tongue and panted heavily. "Hope they're keeping an oxygen tank on the bench just for you." *** Before Harper finished the sentence, Oliver was looking at him a little squinty. And at Harper sideways. "Fucking brutal. She hasn't let up the whole game," he said, grabbing Oliver's attention away from any possible ideas he might get before Harper wanted him to. "You taught her to chirp better than play hockey, I think." Oliver snorted and glanced at his daughter, who stood there with a big old grin. "She came by it naturally. Trust me." "Somehow, I believe it." The whistle blew and Harper tapped the ice with her stick, then smacked her father's shin pads. "Let's go," she said to Oliver. "If he's old, you're a fucking dinosaur. At least pretend you remember the stone ages and try to score one for us, would ya?"

It's never happened with the MCs, but does all the time with secondary characters. Biggest surprise to me in Coach's Challenge was that the FMCs divorced parents are apparently hooking up in secret. And have been off & on since their divorce 10ish ago. So now they're getting a novella.😂

I recently noticed something about my POV in tension scenes (which includes spicy) lately: I often it flip in a scene changeover without even noticing until I go back for a read-thru. So I guess my subconscious is realizing whose POV fits best there & going with it.

It depends on the characters.Most of my stories come to me fairly complete so I know from the jump which way it'll lean on the spice chart.For single scenes in a WIP it's not dependent on overall level-I go by feel of whether it needs to be detailed, skimmed, or brief tell "flashback."
