baseball is the best preparation for death because it does not come with a clock that tells you when your suffering will end one way or the other

If you’re here because you saw the repeat on TV today, here is the update on me: my hands are quite good now (feet are not there but better too), and the problem now is heat not cold, but overall recovery is very good. Just had my one year post treatment follow up and my scans and blood are clean.

This video from Senator Padilla's staff, shared to Twitter by Fox LA's Elex Michaelson, shows Padilla forced to the ground by men wearing FBI uniforms who then handcuff him behind his back. This is after he is forcibly removed from the Noem press conference for asking a question.

Idk man but when the administration that tried to reject humanitarian aid for Los Angeles when it was burning tries to justify their illegal military occupation by saying they aren’t going to let LA burn it kinda sounds like bullshit

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

"We'll just terraform Mars," they insist, unable to terraform Earth, a planet that is already perfect except it's like 2° too warm.

I had my 6mo follow up with my oncologist this week and he was amazed that I could play Jeopardy! at all let alone feel as good playing as in 2020-22. You can see how good that was today!

The mystery of why California HSR costs so much and is taking so long is not really a mystery

1) The easiest parts to build aren't at the largest population centers at the ends
2) It needs a lot of land which is expensive
3) It crosses mountains and seismic areas
4) It's never been funded enough

Got so in my head on recruitment tasks today that I forgot I had other tech documentation open, saw this in a tab and started wondering if I had blacked out and put in a request for "legendary" developers.

Some positive personal recoveries: I made it from LA to Boston and back without physical difficulties. The cold in Boston didn't provoke neural pain. I've put on shirts with buttons the last three days and had no trouble with my fingers beyond how annoying cuff buttons are generally.

J: I’m going to go do the dishes. Or I could do them tomorrow. Nah, I’ll do them now.

Me: Yesterday you said you’d call Sears.

Blue skies directly overhead now, but brown and orange to the west and southwest. The light has been like a permanent sunset all day. Light ash falling.

Dear future self: When your parents offer you the humidifier when you visit, just take it. Don’t wait and see if you “really” need it. Just take it.

PS: Take yours with you to Phoenix and Vegas, too.

When the website updates are flowing, that means I’ve been doing a bunch of typing. And that must mean my hands are doing a whole lot better even if I didn’t notice it along the way.
