There's a part of me that wants to scream because of the way people treat Gamera as if it's Kadokawa's only IP

(Violence warning / minor spoilers for Prison on Fire)

Whether you know him for his drama and action roles, Prison on Fire shows a side of Chow Yun-fat's acting prowess that feels largely unseen.

His range is absolutely immaculate.

The thesis of the "On Fire" Trilogy is simple:

What happens when a system fails us?

And the gut-punching result is cruel division and anarchy under extreme power and enforcement. Either people become victims to the forces they serve, or punished for doing the right thing.

City on Fire is home to what is easily one of the most iconic shots in Hong Kong cinema.

It exudes so much raw energy that you don't even realize that the honking van passing by was completely unscripted, and they just rolled with it.

Ringo Lam's "On Fire" Trilogy deserves to be discussed as one of the greatest film trilogies ever made.

Tojima Rider has some of the coolest promos I've seen, but everytime someone actually posts about the show, I can only think of the Always Sunny episode where Dennis tries to become a fashion designer.

Who remembers playing this growing up?
February 3, 2026 at 11:34 PM
I thought of how Chow Yun-Fat was meant to lead in RED CLIFF, but left because

1.) The script was revised too late in production

2.) His contract with Hollywood kept him from committing

I thought, "What movie was Chow Yun-Fat obligated to?"

... And it unfortunately made sense.
